PAS DAISY PCL (Power Calc Lite) is a part of the PAS DAISY (Power Application Software) product line, which consists of applications for electrical network (EN) operation planning, structure change planning, operation evaluation, etc.
Power Calc Lite is useful mainly for LV network designers. Its main differences from the other PAS DAISY products are the modified feature set and a simplified user interface. These properties have been reflected in the word “Lite” in the product’s name. The emphasis is put on the operation simplicity and ease of use.
Computing methods used in PCL reflect the full-sized standard computing methods used in other PAS DAISY products, therefore there are no mathematical methods simplification that could provide misleading results (especially when computing edge states on the verge of the network technical limits, which sometimes have to be evaluated).
There is also the protection selectivity test feature. Characteristics of the protection elements that are used for the testing are obtained from their manufacturers. All network nodes are checked for errors. There is a protection elements database that is supplied with the program, which includes almost all elements manufactured by OEZ and selected, most important, elements of other manufacturers (SEZ, ABB, Moeller, Siemens, Schneider, …). Working with ampersecond characteristics of elements in a graphic mode. A more thorough inspection of relations between protective elements may be performed using the visualization of protection elements and cables characteristics. The characteristics respect the immediate setting of protection elements modifiable parameters, which is then used for computing (automatic check) selectivity.
Loadflow calculation now includes a weak connection search function (recommended points of disconnection) in the network.
This product has its user interface based on table views of data. Entry data is input in table windows similar to spreadsheets. Program functions are usually activated by icons on the toolbar. All functions may also be found in the menu system. The majority of important functions also have hotkeys assigned to them.
Data input is simplified by several tools – automatic element identification (numbering), data block copying, using type tables, etc.
Usual outputs are traditionally lay-out result tables which may be edited and printed. Work tables may also be exported to the CSV format. This enables an easy input data import into for example an Excel table.
From version 2.0 on, a graphical network schema display is included. This feature provides the user with automatic schema generation, schema printing and saving as a picture. One button click generates a maintenance-free network schema. It is possible to display selected element parameters and calculation results in the picture. The program also enables network branches turning on/off directly in the picture
Power Calc Lite now supports adding, removing, and modifying protection elements both in table and graphical format. The picture may be color coded based on different criteria (topology, line and transformer load, node voltage differences, branch voltage loss) and highlighting parts of the network that require user attention (automatic check results – element overload, out of limits voltage, )
